American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in LA recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a message.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Notable Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored many learners during his career and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
