Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
