Preview the Reimagined Classic Journey: This Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Shortly.
Players looking forward to the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait too much longer. A free-to-play playable preview will go live on the seventh of January, providing a generous taste into the game's opening hours. Importantly, any advancement earned within this demo can be carried over directly into the full game upon its eventual launch.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Re-release: The Complete Reimagining
This project is a from-scratch reimagining of the seminal year 2000 RPG, originally titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a notable step away from recent Dragon Quest re-releases, such as the previously released HD-2D iterations, this reimagining embraces a striking 3D visual presentation. Locales are designed to evoke intricate dioramas, with party members sporting a whimsical toy-like look.
"Even with the previous port, the story was remained quite long. Therefore, we reached a decision that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an experience for contemporary audiences."
Significant Gameplay Enhancements and Updates
Square Enix has added several enhancements to streamline the original gameplay loop. Among these are:
- Expedited Field Battles: Similar to contemporary role-playing games, weaker foes are now dispatched directly on the exploration screen eliminating the need for entering a full traditional battle sequence.
- Adjustable Battle Pace: Gamers have the option to accelerate combat animations to rapidly power through less challenging encounters.
- New Job Mechanics: One completely new character role was introduced for this remake. Furthermore, party members gain the capacity to master a secondary job, greatly expanding customization options.
Such changes are designed to tackle one of the original game's frequent criticisms: its daunting scope. The initial adventure was known to require more than 100 hours to see through. This reimagined edition was expressly reworked to improve progression and cut down on perceived filler.
