It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

The preview shows Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
