Three-time National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 at the Miami Heat.

Jokic was hurt late in the first half during an inadvertent coming together with teammate Jones.

Jones landed on the foot of the MVP, and he promptly collapsed to the ground clutching his knee.

The 30-year-old, that is leading the league this season in boards and assists, posted 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to incurring the injury.

The player is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to assess the seriousness of the injury.

"Right away, Jokic understood he was hurt," commented Nuggets head coach Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Whoever that is injured, that's tough to see, most notably a player as important as Jokic. We will know more tomorrow."

"We will continue together. Obviously, right now, I am more concerned just about him personally and the letdown of facing an event like that."
