Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
